Green Tea Extract

Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze

Polyphenols up to 98% and EGCG up to 95% — the reference botanical antioxidant.

AntioxidantShelf lifeMetabolic support

Green Tea Extract is produced from the leaf of Camellia sinensis, processed without fermentation so that the catechin fraction is preserved intact. Its activity is concentrated in the polyphenols, and within them in epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), the most studied catechin in the botanical field. NATEXSA offers a grade standardised up to 98% polyphenols and a high-purity grade at 95% EGCG for applications where the active dose has to be reached in a small volume.

These are not a NATEXSA dosage recommendation nor a therapeutic indication: they are cited literature, and the preparation the source refers to does not always match the grade we supply. The regulation of the market where you register the product governs.

Applications

  • Nutrition & Health

Antioxidant supplements, metabolic support formulas and sports nutrition.

  • Food & Beverage

Functional beverages, infusions and bakery, where it also delays lipid oxidation.

  • Personal Care

Anti-ageing skincare, scalp care and deodorant formulations.

Polyphenols, catechins and EGCG

The three figures on the specification describe nested fractions: total polyphenols contain the catechins, and the catechins contain EGCG. A "98% polyphenols / 50% EGCG" grade is therefore more concentrated in actives than a plain "70% catechins" — always compare on the same basis.

For claims tied to a specific EGCG dose, work from the HPLC value, not from total polyphenols by UV. NATEXSA reports both on every certificate of analysis.

Stability in the formula

Catechins degrade above pH 6 and accelerate with temperature and dissolved oxygen. In ready-to-drink beverages, keep the pH between 3 and 5 and consider deaeration during filling.

In powder blends the extract is hygroscopic: control the water activity of the mix and use a moisture barrier in the primary packaging.
