Turmeric Extract is obtained from the rhizome and root of Curcuma longa, a rhizomatous herb cultivated across South and Southeast Asia and used in Ayurvedic tradition for centuries. Its characteristic activity comes from the curcuminoid fraction — curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin — standardised up to 95% against USP reference. NATEXSA supplies both the conventional oil-soluble grade and a water-dispersible grade developed for beverages and clear systems, where native curcumin normally fails.

Reference doses
Figures published by reference bodies for the preparation named in each row.
| Marker or preparation | Daily dose | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Curcuminoids | 210 mg/day for a 70 kg adult (ADI of 3 mg per kg body weight) | EFSA · Re-evaluation of curcumin (E 100), 2010 |
| Powdered rhizome | 1.5–3 g/day, or the equivalent amount of extract | ESCOP · Curcumae longae rhizoma |
These are not a NATEXSA dosage recommendation nor a therapeutic indication: they are cited literature, and the preparation the source refers to does not always match the grade we supply. The regulation of the market where you register the product governs.
Applications
Nutrition & Health
Capsules, tablets and powdered blends for antioxidant and joint-comfort positioning.
Food & Beverage
Natural colouring of beverages, dairy, confectionery and sauces; the water-dispersible grade holds up in clear liquids.
Personal Care
Facial and body formulations built around botanical antioxidants.
Composition and standardisation
The curcuminoid fraction is quantified by HPLC and reported as total curcuminoids. The 95% grade meets the USP monograph, which makes it directly usable in markets that require a pharmacopoeial reference.
Lower-concentration grades (10%–20%) are available where the objective is colour or a lighter dose, and are usually more cost-effective per kilogram of finished product.
Formulating with turmeric
Native curcumin is practically insoluble in water and sensitive to alkaline pH and prolonged light exposure. In beverages and clear systems, use the water-dispersible grade and keep the pH below 6.
In oily matrices the standard grade disperses without further processing. For tablets, consider that the pigment migrates: run a stability test on the coating before scaling up.
